- **Event Description**: This will be an epic day. But in order to click "going"  you must first ⚠️READ THIS ENTIRE POST⚠️ This is an ALL DAY waterfall chasing adventure with multiple stops, hiking, carpool logistics, food planning, and a grand sunset finale. 

This is a long day. This is a full canyon exploration

We will be chasing EIGHT waterfalls across DeSoto State Park and Little River Canyon, ending the day watching a sunset over one of the most spectacular overlooks in Alabama.

I repeat. This is not a quick hike. This is a FULL DAY experience. 

If you carpool, you are committing to the entire adventure. You cannot abandon your ride halfway and join a waterfall cult. You must finish what you started. There is no early escape unless you befriend a squirrel and convince it to drive you home.

Costco Murfreesboro Meet Time: 7:30 AM SHARP

We will organize carpools and split gas between passengers and drivers.

If we have a lot of people, we will take multiple vehicles.

If you are carpooling, you are in for the full day. No abandoning your vehicle or your driver. You live together now. Temporarily.

?️ WHAT WE ARE SEEING
Total waterfalls: 8
Inside DeSoto State Park:
Azalea Cascade
Lodge Falls
Laurel Falls
Lost Falls
Indian Falls

Outside the park:
DeSoto Falls
Little River Falls
Grace’s High Falls
Plus additional scenic canyon overlooks along the way and a spectacular sunset at the end!

Total hiking distance for the day: approx. 4 to 5 miles spread across multiple stops. 

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Pace: Relaxed and exploratory, stops for plenty of beautiful photos!

? FULL ITINERARY
9:45 AM – Arrive DeSoto State Park
9:55 AM to approx. 1:30 PM – DeSoto State Park Waterfall Exploration

We will explore multiple waterfalls within the park including:
Azalea Cascade
Lodge Falls
Laurel Falls
Lost Falls
Indian Falls

This is the main hiking portion of the day through forest, along streams, and to multiple waterfalls.
We will take our time, explore, take photos, and eat lunch during this portion.

Approx. 1:45 PM – DeSoto Falls
One of the tallest waterfalls in Alabama at over 100 feet tall. Short hike to upper and lower falls with excellent photo opportunities.

Approx. 3:00 PM – Little River Falls
Massive canyon waterfall with scenic overlooks and optional exploration.

Late Afternoon – Scenic Canyon Overlooks
We will make additional scenic stops along Little River Canyon Parkway as time allows.

SUNSET FINALE – Grace’s High Falls ?
We will end the day at Grace’s High Falls, the tallest waterfall in Alabama at 133 feet tall.

We will stay here through sunset and enjoy the canyon views, golden hour lighting, and the perfect end to the adventure.

Sunset is around 5:40 PM.
This will be the grand finale of the day.

We intentionally built extra time into the day so we can fully enjoy this final stop and experience sunset without rushing. Times are not set in stone. If things change,  they change. This isn’t boot camp. 

After Sunset – Dinner - restaurant: TBD

We will stop at a restaurant after finishing to celebrate, eat, and relive the day’s adventure.

Estimated return to Murfreesboro
8:00 PM to 9:00 PM depending on dinner and traffic
